THE BEST CAKE DONUT I HAVE EVER EVER EVER HAD! Just looking at it makes me want another one… (found at U-Go’s in Pierpont Commons at 9:30am)

Peach-flavored Calpico! (pretty good, at Yogo Bliss, again)

Cookin’ dinner at home… rice+sausage fried rice wrapped in lettuce (mmmm, but so oily):

Chicken-cucumber-tomato (and soy sauce) and a regular ol’ garlic-and-salt veggie dish:

Went to a small tucked-away cafe on South University and East University where they had build-your-own pasta. I got cajun pesto + chicken + broccoli + bruschetta (mmmmm). Anyway, weirdest “shakers”… celery seed??

Random pix from life in Ann Arbor

by rally on Oct.09, 2009, under general

In lieu of the SHITTY weather we have had all week (grey, rainy, 50′s), I decided to post this entry that has been sitting in the queue for a few days now:

A few weeks ago I was setting up (trying to) my AT&T DSL… it wasn’t working, so I went to consult the troubleshooting guide. At the end of the handbook was this “helpful” little sticker: (AT&T DSL technical support FAIL)

Was having a particularly bad day a few weeks ago… it was grey and raining when I left in the morning, so I had to bike through the freezing rain. I went to a 2-hour lab safety training and had to skip my favorite class (pharmacology). But, as the day progressed, I started to feel better, and the sun came out. On the way to class, I passed by this on the central campus diag:

Long-distance

by rally on Oct.08, 2009, under general

(Dancing around my living room at 2:30am to the Hamster Dance… I must be losing my mind. =P)

Just wanted to share some more “personal” photos. I haven’t blogged in a while… sorry. I’ve been collecting photos every day though. Just have to get through the next 7 days of hecticness, and then I’ll be in the clear again for 2-3 weeks. (Plus a trip back home to Houston!)

This is how Carol and I do long-distance. Good thing we have webcams, we both use AT&T for cell phones, and we have similar work schedules. All in all, I think we find pretty creative ways to spend time together…?

One of our traditions when we were together back in Houston was to brush our teeth together… and we’ve found ways to do that still almost every single night:

Still being a tourist in A2

by rally on Sep.28, 2009, under general

Karen came over (allll the way over… from Detroit!) on Friday and we did more touristy things in Ann Arbor. I went to IKEA again, but got lost. (Somehow I didn’t get lost the first time without a GPS, but I got lost the 2nd time with a GPS?)

IMG_3024

I have no idea what this is:
IMG_3026

Karen broke the IKEA sign! :P
IMG_3028

We had dinner at IKEA… good food, decent price! We also tried this weird drink. It tastes like something familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it. It looks like it should tastes like chrysanthemum tea, and it kinda does, but not entirely.

Karen is the master of disguise:

We went biking/exploring Ann Arbor! (It was getting close to sunset, though…)

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (in 3D!… sorta…) I didn’t think it was THAT 3D. The picture separates a little bit from the background, but it’s not as 3D as the 3D IMAX in Disneyland Florida.

Pharmacy Funnies

by rally on Sep.25, 2009, under general

I dunno if it’s because my professor is really funny, or it’s 8am and I’m not awake yet, but the stories that my professor tells in my Pharm 659 class are ridiculous.

From the second lecture this semester:
“Did you guys get that? How was the lecture? If you didn’t get it, you better ask questions, because that lecture just cost you $125 in tuition.”

From today:
Talking about Yohimbine, an aphrodisiac, but also used to induce animals to mate with each other: “I had a colleague that used to slip Yohimbine to his dates. He figured if it worked on animals… why not humans? … I never used Yohimbine on my dates. You know why? Because it makes you CRAZY. You start seeing things.”

Random drug fact of the day (and he has toooons of these… I should flip through my notes and compile them): did you know adrenaline (note the “e”) was patented by a company named Parke-Davis (back in 1900) and named Adrenalin. Because the scientific community refuses to acknowledge drugs by their “brand” names and adrenaline and Adrenalin sounded too similar (in face, the same), they changed the name to epinephrine.

Cute, funny, and pretty

by rally on Sep.21, 2009, under general

Just another random collection of pictures from my life over here… =)

Carol gave me a magnetic dog keychain when she came up last weekend. There’s a match dog, too… guess where they connect? =P

It’s the same clocktower again (north campus clocktower… the one I think looks like a virus with its protein casing):
IMG_2974

Very cute name for a Japanese restaurant. Too bad it’s so tucked away and hard to find. (Leave it to Eric to find it, lol.) It’s on State and Liberty before the yogurt shop.

Saw this at lunch today! I guess it’s an effective way of advertising?

And last but not least, this is where I’m blogging from! It’s a modern-looking (clear plastic chairs, modern plastic white tables, etc) yogurt shop on Liberty. They are running a promo for $2 milktea (and only $0.25 for boba). But what makes this experience really unique is that they also have calpico (the white Japanese flavored drinks) in 3 flavors: original, strawberry, and peach. Since it was my first time, I had to try their original milk tea with boba, of course. It’s not too bad and the boba is a little more hard/chewy than Momo Tea (but not bad). Next time, I’m definitely trying the calpico’s!!
